American Art Museum: Electronic Superhighway

Today, I had a chance to peek into the American Art Museum to check out a really exciting exhibition I'd read about online - the Nam June Paik: Global Visionary exhibition on the third floor. Nam June Paik (1932-2006) is an extroardinary media artist, and the exhibition featured various displays with TVs, neon lights, and other unusual and mind boggling 3-D art. However, I most looked forward to the Electronic Superhighway, which was down the hall from his main exhibition.
 

The Electronic Superhighway is a collection of neon lights and televisions in the shape of the US that takes up an entire wall. Each state, I saw, had television channels that represented the state: for example, Georgia's TVs were showing recaps of the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, and the New York televisions displayed the Empire State Building.

 If you plan on visiting DC sometime soon, I recommend stopping at the American Art Museum to see this. The Nam June Paik exhibition will be running through August 11, 2013, so don't miss it!
